Serial no. 249, .40 caliber, 26-inch octagonal barrelwith dovetailed front sight and
long elevation type rear sight.Loading lever threaded at end secured by end of
woodenramrod. Topstrap marked: James Warner, Springfi eld, Mass. Manually
revolvingcylinder operated by release lever forward of regular trigger. Spur-type
triggerguard. Varnished walnut stock with steel furniture. Crescent butt[see Flayderman
15-027].
Condition: Fine for this model.Metal with dark age patina and scattered light pitting.
Woodvery good with light wear and patina.
Notes: Only 300-350 of this particular model were manufactured.

Serialno. 2959, .50 caliber, Maynard tape primer system. 20-inchround barrel with open
sights. Blued fi nish. Case-heardenedhammer and frame. Tang-mounted Vernier long
range folding peepsight. Properly addressed on sides of frame and on patchboxdoor.
Standard walnut stock with no fore arm. Case-hardenedbuttplate and patchbox containing
original Maynard orange patent date label,together with original roll of unopened
caps for the Maynardsystem. No sling swivel which is correct for this model.Condition: Excellent to mint. Retaining approximately 95-98% fi nishoverall with minor
thinning on barrel and one tiny areaof spotting on right side of frame. Wood excellent
tomint.

marked: M. Case-hardened frame andlever with proper maker markings. Martial blue
hammer. Lower tangmarked: 1865 and 25215. Standard walnut stock with two crispJM
cartouches. Case-hardened buttplate.
Condition: Excellent to mint, retainingvirtually 100% fi nish with minor thinning of casehardening
onlever and buttplate. Remaining case-hardening vibrant with color. Woodmint with crisp markings. A truly exceptional example of thismodel, perhaps the best in
existence.
