Double set-triggers. Unique Allen? Patent adjustable dial, tang-mounted folding peep sight. Horn fore-end cap. Fine scrollengravedGerman silver mountings. Single oval wedge barrel escutcheon. Wooden ramrodwith brass tip.
Condition: Fine to excellent. Barrel and ribshowing smooth brown age patina. Case-hardening retaining some depthand
vibrance. Wood excellent with sharp checkering and light wearoverall. Fine bore.

Serial no. 64, .60 caliber, 35 1/2-inch heavy octagonal barrel with blade front sight and high-profi le buckhorn rear sight. Steel
under-rib.Top flat marked: J. Wurffl ein, Philada. Marked at breech: 64.Engraved lock marked: H. Elwell/Warranted. Double
set triggers. Checkeredwalnut stock with German silver fore-end cap, oval wedgeescutcheons, triggerguard, patchbox
and buttplate. Wooden ramrod.
Condition: Very good.Steel showing rich brown age patina with a few spotsof fi ne pitting around the breech. Triggerguard
tang withperiod repair. Wood very good with light wear overall.
Notes:This rifl e has the appearance and confi guration ofa plains rifl e, including the two keys, the cheekpiece and the
rear sight; the Eastern maker provided apatchbox and mounted the piece in German silver; the Westernmaker omitted the
patchbox and usually used brass or ironmountings. A fi ne example of the famed plains rifle.

fl ip-up tang peep sight, hammer, lockmechanism, patchbox and all furniture. Lock marked: J. Wurffl ein,Philada. Double-set
triggers. Beautiful select walnut stock with checkeredwrist and cheek rest. Scrolled triggerguard. German silver fore-endcap, wedge escutcheons and two oval escutcheons, one example onleft wrist inscribed: G.Gilpin. Hardwood ramrod with
brass tipand wormer.
Condition: Fine to excellent for this type ofrifl e. Barrel with smooth brown patina with scattered lightspotting. Vibrant color
remaining on case-hardened elements. Excellent woodwith mellow age patina. Overall, a very fi ne exampleof this type of
rifl e.

tang-mounted peep sight. Steelunder-rib. Barrel marked: J.H. Rector/Syracuse/N.Y./412. Scroll-engraved breech, tang, lock
and screws. Double set-triggers. Finely checkered deluxe walnut stock with pewter fore-end,German silver wedge escutcheons
and scroll-engraved furniture. Scroll-engravedoval buttstock side escutcheons. Wooden ramrod with steel tip.
Condition:Fine to excellent. Barrel with beautiful, smooth age patina withscattered light wear and fi ne scratches. Wood
fi newith minor sliver repair on left side of stock, hardlyvisible and a few minor dents and bruises. Front triggerpossibly
shortened. Bore with strong rifl ing and minor pitting.Obviously, a special order rifl e with deluxe features, typicalof the work
done by Rector who was known specifically for his target rifl es.
